GetDN is designed to be run from an XP workstation as a user with domain admin rights, e.g a member of the IT support department.

You enter all or part of a user's username or surname and then the utility will show that user's full distinguished name. E.g: cn=Dave Smith, ou=department1, o=example company, c=US

This is useful when you need to specify a user's DN in another script or program and it also comes in handy for quickly finding out which OU's a user is in (which helps with group policy troubleshooting). Also works for groups.

This application initially designed only for internal use so it is not as polished as it could have been but its functionality is still the same.
